Is this the worst foundation ever!!???

Hello my little buttons!!

Just a super quick blog to announce I have found the worst foundation in the world! Ever! I have tried many a foundation in my time but this one really deserves it’s own blog post lol. The brand Collection I find can be very hit or miss so wasn’t sure what to expect.

I bought this online, as there was a 3 from 2 offer I chose this product as my freebie, thank God I didn’t pay for it!

The product promises an ultimate fix, foundation concealer and powder all in one with spf 15. On first touch the formula very thick and wet, I decided to use a mixture of fingers and a face brush to buff the product in. Here is my before photo.

As you can see I’ve been in the sun a lot this summer which has left me with a slight tan (I realise I’m pretty red but to me that’s as tanned as I get lol) and freckles. Here is my photo after applying the foundation.

I think you can tell how seriously unimpressed I am with my chalky patchy white face. The product sunk into every pore line and wrinkle. It looks awful!!!! The product didn’t dry whatsoever and to touch was a very bizarre combination of a liquid powder, it also did not conceal what I wanted it too.

Overall this product was crap! I can usually see the good in everything, even if something doesn’t work for me it could work for others. But this foundation? Just no lol save your money. I’d love to hear in the comments below your worst foundation experience!

TooFaced Better Than Sex waterproof mascara Review

Hello my little buttons!!!
I was tickled pink to see in a recent Glossy Box one of the items was the waterproof version of Toofaced Better Than Sex Mascara. I have seen this everywhere online and was so excited that I finally had it!

The packaging is gorgeous, a beautiful teal colour with waterdrops embossed all over giving it a wet look. I though that was really clever.

The brush was bristled with an hourglass shape, fully loaded with product. I love mascara that creates length and separation with a bit of volume. I used to love big chunly thick lashes but as I’m getting older my tastes are changing. I still like crazy lashes on a night out as I tend to wear dramatic eye makeup but day to day, not so much!

My lashes are fairly short and thin so I don’t have much to work with but with the right mascara they can look great. On first impression I really wasn’t sure I liked this mascara, it did add great volume but it did make my lashes look clumpy and brittle if that makes sense?! I was also disappointed that it didn’t hold the curl very well, within an hour or so my lashes looked pretty straight.
Although I did get many complimets throughout the day on how good my lashes looked which did surprise me lol. I do have to say this mascara literally lasted alllllllll day. Even when it came to removing it my normal micellar water did nothing so I had to use an oil, which would be fantastic if I had a long day or night out and wanted to it last.

On reflection, looking at the photos a few days later my lashes actually looked better than I thought they did on the day. The mascara isn’t on my ‘ride or die’ list, but I think it really does add huge volume and the formula is super black and long lasting overall it’s not a bad mascara to own. I’m not sure I’d pay the £19 price tag but as a deluxe sample it will definitely get used.

I’d love to hear what you think about this product in the comments below!

Wayne Goss in The Body Shop + mini haul + new products!

Hello my little buttons!!

I haven’t been to The Body Shop for a while so I popped in today to pick up a few bits and have a nosy. The first thing I noticed was this fabulous display #daretomask full of fancy new face masks!!! Face masks are one of my favourite things in the whole wide world. The two I was drawn to was the Himalayan Charcoal mask and the Ethiopian Honey Mask. As the were £15 each I decided to get samples to try at home first, one thing I love about the body shop is the samples to try before you buy. I also loved the variety, they really have covered all skin types and mask requirements, the packaging looks really smart too.

The main reason I went in was to buy a few bits from the seaweed skin care range, which if you have followed me for a while you’ll know it’s my all time favourite skin care line. The two best products in the line, in my opinion, are the oil balancing clay mask and the oil control over night gel. Usually these are £23 together. Today I found a cute little pre packed box with both these products in for £16. Bargain!!! I also noticed all the skin care had been repackaged which I think really adds to the luxurious feel of the products.

The big surprise for me was seeing Wayne Goss posters and leaflets all over the shop promoting The Body Shops eyeshadows! I’m not sure if they have reformulated the eyeshadows as last time I used them I wasn’t overly impressed. I really value goss’s opinion so I am tempted to try the new palettes they had in store.

Over all a fun little trip out! What body shop product can you not live without?!

Why does everyone hate Sanders Kennedy?!

Hello my little buttons!!
I am a YouTube junkie, and I can admit that. I watch YouTube while making the kids lunch boxes, while I’m doing my house work, cooking dinner, and pretty much every other sneaky moment I can. I watch a wide variety of channels but one of my favourites channel genre’s …as controversial as it is….is YouTube gossip/drama channels.

One rather large gossip channel is Sander Kennedy, recently his subscriber count has blow up but I’ve been watching him from back in the day before he came really popular and I’ve gotta say I love him!

As well as gossip videos Sanders has made some really heart wrenching personal videos about his life and his past which must have been incredibly difficult to talk about but his intention was to help other people. I really admired him for this as putting yourself out there online can leave you very vulnerable and exposed.

I watch pretty much every video he posts as I love to hear what he has to say, I think he’s hilarious and so entertaining. Even if there are 100 other YouTubers with the same gossip video I always go to Sanders first. He’s the kind of guy that as I’m watching I feel like we’re having a coffee and a good old catch up, which is exactly what I want from a gossip channel!!!

People are complaining he’s made too many videos on Jeffree Star, personally I would disagree. JS is a huge topic of conversation right now and the people that follow that drama want to know every little detail and as JS keeps f*cking up and as more issues are coming to light, there’s more gossip all the time!!

There seems to be quite a lot of bitchiness going on between quite a few of the gossip channel creator’s, but to be honest I don’t take it all too seriously. YouTube is there for your entertainment, I get that some people don’t enjoy watching conflict, which is fine as they’re a million other videos to watch. At the end of the day everyone is trying to grow their channels and as much as people deny it conflict and gossip gets views, I don’t meant that maliciously it’s the truth lol.

I really hope I don’t get a lot of hate for this post as it’s meant to be light hearted but I just don’t get why he’s so hated!!? Sanders is one of my favourite YouTubers  I love his sass and I don’t think he’s a bad person at all. I want to say that I do love other drama channels, some of which seem to be “anti Sanders” and this isn’t me taking any kind of side I just think it’s quite an interesting topic going on right now in the YouTube world.

What do you think about Sanders?!

buttonnailslovesmakeup is back!! (life update)

Hello my little buttons!

I hope your all doing well, it’s been quite a while since I posted. I am not under any illusion that I have a big audience nor that I have been missed but I decided to blog on my summer, what I’ve been up to and where I have been for the odd person that might be curious.

I want to start by saying I love writing, this blog has been so much fun and I have really missed it. It is a fun hobby that gives me joy and watching it grow is so exciting. Every like or comment I receive makes my day, I love chatting with you all about products and hearing what you have to say. The fact someone took time out of their day to comment still blows my mind.

It also happens to be pretty time consuming, finding the time to do my makeup every day, take photos, notes on products, writing up drafts then edit upon edit to make sure I’ve got it just right. At times it can really take over!

For those of you that don’t know I have a pretty busy life in the ‘real world’ I have two beautiful children, ellie who is nearly 9 and Stanley who is 4. I have a wonderful other half called Dave who I have been with for nearly 10 years. We have a beautiful but mental cat called kitty.

I have my own business from home called button nails where I offer gelish nails (an insane amount of nail art) as well as individual eyelash extentions. I also work one morning a week for my dad’s company as well as a few house cleaning jobs. My hands are pretty full most of the time and sometimes life feels like a juggling act, between school runs, kids clubs, work, vets, doctors/dentist appointments, meetings, work, house work….this list goes on. It can be hard to find time for anything else. But since starting this blog I have always found time as it is a huge passion of mine.

This summer was the last summer before Stanley started full time school and I was determined to make the most of it, so I decided to put the blog on hold for the holidays and have fun with my family. I don’t want this blog to become something I felt forced to do. I have been crazy busy with work too so it was put on the back burner. Im happy to say the blogging itch is back and so am I.
Please don’t think I’m complaining about my life because I’m really not, I love my crazy odd little family and rushing about all the time. I winge n moan but I wouldn’t want it any other way.

If you are also in the UK you will have notice how crazy hot it’s been, when the weather is sweltering I don’t tend to wear makeup. I’m a sweaty kinda gal and it drives me crazy having makeup on when it’s boiling hot. But I’ve really missed it. I love choosing what products to wear, getting creative with colours and styles and the process of applying my makeup which I find so relaxing.

On the other hand, not wearing makeup for 2 months has been so liberating. I’ve been loving my skincare products and have appreciated good skin days more than before. I didn’t even take makeup on holiday!!!! Which was definitely a new thing for me lol.

I have boxes of beauty products ready to be used and tried and tested so watch this space you’ll be reading a lot more from me this month!!!

I hope you all had a great summer!

Lots of love

Saturday colourful MOTD

Hello my little buttons!!

Hope your all having a lovely Saturday! Thought I’d share my makeup look for the day, I’ve got lots of new goodies I’m testing out and will be blogging about as soon as I have a firm opinion on them.

Here are the products I’m trying out today, from left to right:

1. Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner in the shade 020 fashionista (dark metallic blue)

2. Collection Define & Perfect eyebrow powder in the shade blonde 1

3. Maybelline Lash Sensational, lash multiplying Mascara.

4. Collection Prime & Ready mattifying pore minimising primer powered by witch hazel

5. MUA Luxe bronze & Sculpt Contour Kit

I felt like going bright and colourful to match my colourful summer dress. As the Eyeliner I’m testing out is a dark metallic blue I decided to pull out out my trusty Makeup Revolution mermaids vs Unicorns eyeshadow palette. The colours are so vibrant amd pigmented it never let’s me down!

As I’m using a mattifying pore minimising primer I wanted to use a matte foundation. One of my all time favourites is the L’oreal Infallible Matte, as I used it all the time I know how it wear s throughout the day so thought this would be the perfect way to test a new primer.

Here are all the products I used for my look today.

I’d love to hear in the comments below what products your really into right now!

Mirror nails application and first impression! (wildflowers)

Hello my little buttons!!

I’m sure you’ve all seen the mirror nail powder videos that have been going viral, I couldn’t resist investing. I know my customers pretty well by now and knew this would be a huge hit with my girlies!

It’s a really intetesting concept, the powder itself is a super fine silver micro glitter. Instructions to use are as follows:

1. Prep the nail as usual

2. Paint the nail black (gel Polish) then cure.

3. Top coat then cure.

4. Using a lint free wipe, wipe of the sticky layer not using any chemicals, just the wipe.

5. Rub the powder into the nail.

6. Repeat steps 3,4 & 5 then topcoat again

Voila your done!

The powder is so easy to use once you’ve removed the tacky layer, this photo was my first attempt. I will say though, as the powder is so fine it really does go everywhere so be prepared to be covered in micro glitter for a day or two! My powder was from wildflowers and including delivery it came to £30 for a 10g jar. Yes it is expensive (the current value of the pound doesn’t help) but now I have played around with it im confidant I’ll get a good amount of sets out of the little pot and have adjusted my prices accordingly. I’m hoping to buy some of the other chrome colours avaliable too but need to save my pennies lol.

I would also recommend to have a separate top coat for mirror nails as the glitter partials have now contaminated my top coat making it glittery, bit of a pain but wasnt a huge suprise.

I’d love to hear below if you like mirror nails or if you know any other brands that stock this powder?

Ladykin Mango Twinklight Soft Foaming Cleanser Review

Hello my little buttons!

I was perusing one of my favourite beauty sites beautybay and came across this face Cleanser. “with effective emollients mango extract and bambusa vulgaris leaf extract” it sounded fruity and gorgeous. Its priced at £5 and you get 100ml which I thought was a BARGIN. Once it arrived I had a look at the ingredients but sadly they are korean so I have no idea what is in the cleanser lol.

On first use, I was hoping for a big powerful mango smell (yes I know fragrance in skincare is a no-no lol) but instead was met by a super soft subtle mango smell. The cleanser it’s self was a really pale pearlescent yellow and felt rich and creamy with small exfolient beads. I didn’t find it foamed up overly well, it felt more like a cream cleanser which isn’t a problem for me.

Once I rinsed it off my face i was squeaky clean, litrally I could squeak across my cheeks with my fingers lol. But what was sooooo disappointing was the after smell. Soap. Soap. Soap. It spelt straight up like a bar of soap, it was so over powering and nasty. The smell clung to my skin for a good hour after washing it was really unpleasant.

I will say, although it smells revolting, my skin feels so lovely, soft and clean afterwards I’m still using it! I definitely won’t be buying it again but for now it does the job. I realise this is an odd little review but thought I would share my thoughts!

I’d love to hear in the comments below what your favourite cleanser is?

New makeup trend alert!!! Draping?!

Hello my little buttons!!
Well here we are again, already, to talk about yet another new makeup trend. Let’s quickly recap, we’ve has contouring, strobing, non-touring and now we’re onto draping. Draping is a huge throw back to a technique makeup artists used in the 60’s/70’s/80’s it’s basically contouring but with blush. Using several shades to achieve a more rosy natural contour, a darker shade on the lower cheek with a lighter, brighter shade blended above.

As I’m pretty red naturally I can’t see this being a look I’ll be jumping at!! What do you think about this new trend? Cool or Crazy? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Glossy Box July 2016 First Impressions!

Hello my little buttons!

Yay another Glossy Box, I’m so happy with this one as I’m pretty sure I will use every product. So let’s jump right in.

1. Hawaiian Tropic island berry lipgloss £6.99 hawaiiantropicshop.co.uk

Lovely little lipgloss, spf 25 which is fantastic for a gloss. It claims to be a non sticky formula that provides 12 hours hydration. It’s smells great I hope it lives up to my expectations.

2. Icona Milano Emotion Allowed Mascara £13.04 iconamilano.com

Love the name of this Mascara, it’s a really clever take on waterproof Mascara. The brush looks pretty good too so hoping it adds length, volume and is buildable. Its also from a brand I’ve never heard of before which is exciting.

3. Hairon De-tangle Brush £6.99 hairon.co.uk

I was more pleased for my daughter than myself on this one! Her hair is down to her bum so this will definitely get used lol. My hair is shorter and curly but when it’s hot the curls get so tight it’s really hard to brush though so hopefully this brush will live up to the challenge.

4. Blank Canvas f20 Flat Brush £11.95 blankcanvascosmetics.com

One of my favourite things to get in my Glossy Box is a makeup brush! This is another brand I haven’t heard of, but from the looks of the brush I think I’ll be investigating further as it feels super soft and is rather pretty to look at!

5. Utan and Tone Nourishing Night Creme £12.50 utanandtone.com

Hmmmm debating whether to try this or not lol. It’s a combo of night cream and gradual fake tan, it could go fantastically well or I could be stained orange for days lol. Might read some reviews on this before having a play!
Overall a fantastic box this month really happy with all the items! We’re you happy with your box? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
