L’oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation Review

image

Hello my little buttons!

I have been dying to get my hands on a cushion foundation since Lancome started the trend over here in the UK. I was tickled pink when I heard l’oreal were jumping on the band wagon as I really like their foundations so I had high expectations. The price of this foundation ranges between £9.99 – £19.99 depending on where you buy it from and is avalible in 7 shades. I bought mine online and chose the shade 04 Rose Vanilla, bit of a gamble but I was relieved to see on arrival that it was my perfect shade. Another huge selling point for me is that it contains Spf 25 which is really good for a foundation and means I can skip on the sun cream on ‘makeup days.’

The packaging is simply adorable, pretty and pink with a metalic pink lid. Once opened there is a good sized mirror and a compartment for the little sponge applicator pad. Underneath is the foundation soaked sponge, it says in the instuctions once opened make sure you pop the top down tightly which I assume is to stop it drying out quickly.

image

I was worried the foundation might feel slightly watery or dried out but I was wrong! It has the consistency of a normal creamy foundation and i was suprised how much product was soaked into the sponge, one dab with the applicator went a long way. The foundation is advertised as a summer glowy foundation, glowy foundations aren’t usually my thing. I tend to lean towards matte foundation formulas and add some highlight but in the summer this can feel a tad heavy and look fairly unnatural. On first application of the Nude Magique Cushion I decided to tap it on as specificity in the Instructions for a natural light coverage, I was slightly freaked out as I starting applying the product as it looked pretty shiney but as I built up more coverage and left it to dry I was pleased with the results, it had evened out my skin tone and given the skin a radiant healthy looking glow. I used a light dust of powder to set the foundation and after applying my usual makeup I was incredibly happy with the results, it’s looks natural and sat really well over my primer. Through the day the foundation wore really well, even after my natural oils started flowing it didn’t look crazy greasy. I took a photo after about two hours wear in the sunlight to show how it had settled into my skin and trying to capture the summer glow the foundation gives. Not sure if I achieved that but I did try lol!

image

Maybe I do like this glowy skin thing after all?! I feel like I’ve had a really good skin day which is 100% down to the Nude Magique Cushion Foundation, here is a photo after 8 hours of wear, two of those hours were doing hardcore sweaty house work. As you can see it has moved about a little bit, but for a light coverage summer foundation I’m more than happy with that!

The only thing I haven’t mentioned which I feel I must touch on is how the product is applied. Yes I love the formula, the package speaks for itself and I love the novelty and convenience ….but hygienically I’m not sure how I’m going to feel after using it several times. It’s going to be a pain having to wash the sponge after every application, even though my face is clean when I put my makeup on dipping the applicator in and out of the sponge it’s still mixing up product with my face germs lol. Im sure I’ll be able to get over this by keeping the applicator clean and only using it when I first apply my makeup, not dabbing in and out throughout the day. I had to mention this as I know it would be a real deal breaker for some people whereas other people wouldn’t even think of it like that.

Overall I think this is a great product I’d highly recommend, even with the applicator washing!!! The final result is so pretty and summery, it quick and easy to apply and you have great control over the coverage. I’d love to hear what you think of this product in the comments below.

L’oreal Infallible Matte Foundation – is it worth the hype?

image

Hello my little buttons!

I was in the market for a matte medium to full coverage fondation, I mainly use bb creams or lighter foundations but I do like to have something with a bit more coverage for events and bad skin days. One of the first products that came to mind was L’Oréal Infallible Matte liquid Foundation, I’ve read amazing reviews and from what I’d seen in photos it looks gorgeous on the skin. I ordered mine online so took a bit of a gamble on the shade, I went for ‘natural rose’ as I’m fairly pale and have a lot of pink tones. As I’m getting older instead of covering up the pink I’m just going with it! Turns out the shade was perfect, it blended in lovely with my skin tone. I love the packaging, it comes in a tube with a small nozzle so you have full control over how much product comes out and you can see how much you have left as it’s mainly clear packaging. The black and red writing/detail looks awesome together as well.

Ive been using the foundation for a few weeks now and I have to say I absolutely love it. I’ve been buffing it in with a foundation brush, no I don’t have a beauty blender I realise I’m the only person alive who doesn’t lol. That a side even with the brush it blends in beautifully with my skin and layers up really well so I can take it from medium coverage to full coverage. It doesn’t cake up and still looks surprisingly natural for such high coverage. Even though it’s matte it’s not drying on my skin at all and even after a whole day of wear still looks fantastic. I have been using a primer as I always do and a light powder to set the foundation and my concealer. I’ve not needed to powder through the day what so ever which is a new thing for me!!! It mainly stays matte throughout the day but what I actually do like is as it settles you can see a natural glow through it which I think is what makes it look so subtle and real-skin like. I would definitely agree it’s water proof and steam proof as even when I’ve been out in the hammering rain it’s all still been in place when I’ve got back.

image

In the photo I had been wearing the foundation for around 6 hours and had been rushing round sweating getting all my jobs done, it still looks great! I highly recommend this foundation and at £8.99 it’s easily replaceable when you run out.

Here’s a few more photos of the foundation:

Avon Eyeshadow Primer Review

Hello my little buttons!

Here’s my quick review on Avons Eyeshadow Primer in the shade Light Beige which I bought for £7 from my local Avon representative. I’m always on the hunt for affordable eyeshadow primers that really work. What I look for in a primer is a product that keeps my shadow put and holds that creasing at bay. Nothing drives me crazier than creasing eyeshadow it makes me look greasy, smudgy and overall a hot mess. So to me primer is essential in my daily makeup routine.

As you can see the primer is a light creamy consistency, I like that there is a touch of colour to the product which helps even out the skin tone on my lids. It’s easy to apply and blends in beautifully, it dries slightly tacky which really helps my eyeshadows stick. I’ve tested this out with many different quality of shadows from elizabeth Arden and urban decay to makeup revolution and MUA, and each time the results have been the same. My eyeshadow has lasted with minimal fading, zero creasing and overall im really happy with the product it does what it says on the tin.

The packaging I like, its a cute little glass pot with a black plastic lid, it’s sleek and has a nice weight to it making it feel fairly luxurious. My only moan, is the amount of product you actually get. As you can see when I remove the lid and hold it to the side there is very little product in relation to the size of the glass pot. A little does go a long way, I’ve been using it for several weeks and there’s still loads left but I do find it irritating as it seems like such a waste of space in my makeup bag. Apart from that this product gets a big thumbs up from me!

My favourite red lip stain EVER!

Hello my little buttons!

Here’s a quick review on what I love about The Body Shop lip & cheek stain. I ADORE red lips, it’s a bold statement that looks gorgeous on anyone. There’s so many different reds with so many different undertones there really is a shade to suit everyone. Simple makeup with red lips you just can’t go wrong, so classy and 50s. Although I do have issues with red lipstick, when I wear it im constantly panicing is it on my teeth? Smudging across my face? Is it  fading and looking patchy? If it’s a matte liquid lipstick, is it looking dry and crispy?! Not a good look for anyone. So for me having red lips was few and far between as I didn’t fancy checking the mirror every two minutes. Until I found this lip stain! I got it as a free gift for spending over a certain amount at The Body Shop. In the tube it’s looked a beautiful red, but there was glitter in it. I was so disappointed as I have no desire to do the weekly food shop or school runs with red disco balls lips. I decided to give it a try anyway, to my surprise the glitter doesn’t transfer on the lips, not enough for me to see anyway! The formula is pigmented but not opaque which I think works in its favour. It’s a thin consistency so you have full control of how red you want to go, one thin layer is a more natural looking red. What I like to do is really layer it up, waiting for it to dry before adding more then as its setting rub my lips together to even the colour out and really rub it in. The doe foot applicator is fairly stiff so u can get a nice neat line around the edges so no need for a lip liner. It lasts for hours and fades fairly evenly too. It’s changed my life I can finally have red lips whenever the mood takes me!! It’s comes in 3 shades, the other two have no glitter at all, just incase that’s totally put you off. It’s available for £10 and is also beautiful on the cheeks, rosy and really long lasting. You can buy it from http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk or in stores.

MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Wand Review

Hello my little buttons!

I received this chunky eyeshadow/eyeliner pencil in a glossy box recently. Love that it’s duel ended and the metallic blues are just gorgeous as you can see. I love colourful make up but if I’m in a rush it can be fairly time consuming so this seemed like a great solution for quick blue eyes.

I primed my eyes like normal, I used the darker shade under my waterline and the lighter blue on the lids using my finger to blend it out slightly. First impression love it, super quick and easy to apply blends nicely, perfect colours.

Within 20 minutes this happened….

Seriously, within 20 minutes!!!!  Creased, faided just absolutely awful!! As I had the school run to do I popped on my sun glasses to hide the horror and went on my way. At least with my eyes open it looked fairly ok.

Within another hour even the blue underneath was smearing everywhere, it was like food dye trying to cover every inch of my face. It was getting in my eyes and overall if im totally honest… Looked like crap. I literally had to remove it all, it couldn’t be saved and by this point my eyes were stinging. More joy of joys it STAINED MY EYES. I was in the middle of tesco toilets with baby wipes scrubbing like a crazy person. The blue tinge would not budge, I looked like I had been punched in the face. Not a great look while doing the weekly food shop. Thankfully when I got home, with makeup remover I managed to get most of it but there was defiantly a light tinge still left.

I will never use this product again, so disappointing as I really thought it would be a staple in my collection. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this product, please subscribe for more reviews like this!

Mini Naked 3 Dupe! With Swatches!

Hello my little buttons!

Here is my side by side swatch review of Urban Decays Naked 3 and Freedom Makeup Londons Pro Shade & Brighten Stunning Rose Kit mini eyeshadow palette. My Naked 3 is one of my favourite palettes, I love rosy makeup and what ever combo I choose in this palette I’m always happy with the end result. I was hoping they would do a basics palette but so far it’s not been mentioned. Now I have found this Freedom palette I’m not even sure if I would buy it! As soon as I laid eyes on the Rose kit i recognised the first half of the naked 3 instantly, when I put them side by side I was wowed at how similar they were. Or should I say identical! I feel the only thing that’s missing from the Freedom palette is a darker shade like factory or darkside but for day time looks its perect. When I swatched them side by side I was even more impressed.

As you can see this is a swatch of the first shades in both palettes, freedoms is slightly more yellow and although both are pigmented urban decays did apply slighter better. This is one of my favourite base colours from urban decay Iv nearly hit pan on it I use it that often.
Second shade in both palettes, urban decays really is more of a glitter dust whereas freedoms is more metallic and there’s more colour behind the glitter. You can’t really tell in the photo but in real life I think that’s the only slight difference, although once they are blended out on the eyes they do create the same effect.  Freedoms is more creamy but there is more fall out because of this.

Third shade in the palettes, these are the closest match in colour, freedoms is maybe a hair darker but it’s not noticeable at all. Fab dupe!!

Forth shade in the palettes, there is quite a difference here. Freedoms is darker, more pigmented and leans more towards a brown. Whereas urban decays is more of a smoky purple and is defiantly lighter on the skin.

I love these shades! Fifth colour in the palette, both seriously pigmented although the freedoms is slightly darker. Once on the lids there is no difference. Both shades have fall out but it’s so worth it!

Here is the last dupe shades in the palettes, and it really is Freedoms triumph! Look at the pigmentation!!!!! It’s super metallic, there is quite a lot of movement fallout in the pan when I put my finger/brush in where it’s so soft but I really don’t care because that colour is perfection. I’ve always found this shade in the urban decay palette to be quite stiff to work with and freedoms really is the total opposite.
Here’s a close up so you can stare a bit longer!

I would also like to touch on prices and packaging, the naked 3 is £38 and you get 12 shades. The packaging can’t be beat, a pretty sturdy pink tin that snaps shut really securely and a large mirror. There’s also a great selection of darks and lights, mattes and shimmers. It’s really well rounded there is so much you can do with it, the quality of the shadows are also beautiful. Pigmented and long lasting, there is slight fall out but that really doesn’t bother me I just do my eyes before my face, problem solved lol.

The Rose Kit is £2.50 and you get 6 eyeshadows and a highlight shade. It’s a cute mini sized palette great for touch ups throught the day in you handbag, I like that the lid is clear so if you have a selection of them you can tell which is which. It’s a shame there’s not a small mirror as I would need to carry one separately, but for £2.50 I really can’t moan. The shadows are jammed with pigmentation and with a good primer last really well. As I said earlier it’s a shame there’s not a dark colour but as the fourth shade comes out darker than it looks in the pan it helps even out the final look.

So overal both palettes are a win for me, I like that I can use my naked 3 at home in the morning and take the Rose kit on the go in my bag for touch ups. They work so well together!  I hope you enjoyed this comparison to see more like it please subscribe! xxx

Disclaimer: The Rose Kit by Freedom was sent to me but that doesn’t remotely effect the honest review I have given I have not been sponsored or paid to promote this product. The Naked 3 I purchased with my own money.

Some of my favourite lip products, only £1 each!

Hello my little buttons!

Thought I’d share with you some of my favourite cheapy lip products! Firstly my favourite lipliners!

They’re by a company called Essence! Available in Wilko Stores or at http://www.wilko.com these babies are £1 each and come in a bunch of colours. Here are a couple I love! They are sooo creamy and smooth they feel lovely on the lips. They’re long lasting and fairly smudge proof. I tend to wear them all over the lips as the colours are so pretty and they last so well. Best lip liners ever.

I’ve mentioned this little lippie before, Makeup Gallery at Poundland.i have colour 06 natural pink. I can’t vouch for the whole range but this colour in particular is gorgeous, a real pretty nudie pink. Lasts a good couple of hours and leaves a light stain which I love in lipsticks. Feels similar to a tinted balm but a bit creamier.

A recent find, Freedom Makeup London http://www.freedommakeuplondon.com these are also only £1! Really nice formula glides on the lips, doesn’t stick to my dry bits so started carrying them in my bag as they’re just so convenient!  The top shade is pink lust the bottom is whispers. They last well and again leave a slight stain. A new summer fave for sure. They also come in tonnes of colours there’s one for everyone!
