Freedoms Makeup London ‘Pro Decadence Magic’ eyeshadow palette review!

I received this palette while I was attending a makeup course at House of Glam Dolls in London. There is a review of the course just below this post if you’d like to hear more do have a read, now back to the palette. 

I want to jump straight in my saying Freedome have stepped up their game with these shadows. If your not familiar with my blog or instagram page I am an eyeshadow junkie. I love everything about palettes and really enjoy collecting and experimenting with texture, colours and different looks. As well as highend I do have a lot of affordable brand palettes, some of which are really big competitors against the more pricey palettes. This is one of those special palettes! I’m going to generalise slightly here, in most £6 palettes that involves mattes as well as shimmers there is always at least one dud that is just so disappointing. In this palette there’s not one single shade that’s disappointing, when applying on the eyes they are super pigmented, they blend beautifully and have very little fall out. Even comparing these eyeshadows to the Freedom mini palettes and 32 pan palettes these are defiantly a better quality, in the way they feel to the way they apply and last. I really think the colour selection has been very carefully thought out, you have your matte and shimmery highlights  base colours, matte crease colours as well as some of my favourite shimmers of all time. There are several shimmery shades I have not got in any other palette I own, and that is a rarity I promise you!!!! 

  

This was the look I was taught on the makeup course, it’s called ‘rose goddess’ I used a stunning shimmery pink all over the lid, a deeper matte pink shade in the crease, and a matte cream colour on my brow bone. I’ve tested this palette with several primers, patting on the shimmery shades then using my blending brushes for the crease and brow bone. 

  
I had so many compliments on this simple yet pretty eye makeup look, it’s like a goldy pinky creamy… Ok I can’t describe it but you have eyes so I’m sure you can see the colour for yourself! It’s not at all chunky or stiff it was smooth and really stuck to the primer lasting all day.

   
 
The next day I went for a darker look to test out some of the deeper shades, I chose this reddy bronzey brown. As you can see again it’s not glittery and chunky its smooth and shimmery and still I was impressed with the longevity with a primer. 

  
The last look I went for was using more bronzey browns, with a slighter deeper brown on the outer V, again loved this look really neutral but eye catching.  I find it interesting how each brand has different quality products within the brand, I’ve been happy with the other shadows from freedom but to me these are by far the winner!!!

My review on Freedom Makeup London ‘Rose Goddess’ makeup course @ House Of Glam Dolls!!!!

The wonderful Freedom Makeup London offered me the chance to attend one of their makeup courses at House of Glam Dolls in London. Naturally I jumped at the chance. There were four courses to choose from, each offering step by step training on different makeup looks. I went for ‘Rose goddess’ as I love rosy makeup and was drawn to the face chart, who wouldn’t want to look like that?!

  
As well as the course I also got a nice big bag of goodies with key items for the Rose goddess look as well as other bits and pieces, which was very well received and a nice touch to the already amazing afternoon. I am not a makeup artist, nor have I had any makeup training so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would it be a ‘sit and listen’ kind of thing? Would it be interactive? Would I be so nervous i’d shake and couldn’t do my liquid liner? All these thoughts crossed my mind on the train journey up to London, but I really shouldn’t of worried. The building itself was fresh and modern and very easy to find using my trusted Google maps, and a phone call to the creative director, Chinyee Chu. Who, before I even entered the building made me feel so welcome and at ease. When I entered the space I thought I had died and gone to heaven, the room was STUNNING. Colourful, eclectic, vintage, modern, creative, imaginative… Incredibly well put together. 

  
Every nook and cranny was filled with beautiful interesting pieces, I could of spent all afternoon exploring and admiring, from the furniture to the wall art to the large cabinet of vintage and beautifully packaged special edition makeup, there was even a gorgeous unique shed/cabin! The space was designed and created by chinyee chu which to me made it even more personal to the brand.

  
  
Just being in the space inspired me, it made me want to get stuck in and be creative. I later found out this was Glam Dolls goal with the studio design, they well and truly hit the nail on the head. The space was spot on for learning and really pushing your creative boundaries. For a classroom it was freaking awesome!!! For those of you that don’t know im a nail technician who specialises in nail art, I was not expecting to come away from this course with a million nail art ideas but I’m already attacking my customers! This place is something special and a wonderful environment to learn in. 

The course was being run by David Horne, the other creator of House Of Glam Dolls. I’m actually going to insert a link here: http://www.houseofglamdolls.com/about.html   Which has all the back ground info on the super impressive chinyee chu and David Horne, as I could write a blog purely on what these amazing people have achieved in their careers. After hearing more from David about their history I knew I was in some of the best hands in the industry, and after seeing a framed article of him in VOGUE alongside Lisa Eldridge less than a year from opening their studio I knew I was in the presence of a legend! Have to say I was a tad star struck, which come to think of it I said out loud lol cring. 

  

The training itself was casual but informative. Sadly there was a group cancelation which took the group of four down to just me. Not that I was complaining! It was a relaxed yet professional atmosphere, my nerves melted away and I was comfy asking questions no matter how daft I thought they seemed. A real highlight was when David advised me how to create a wing that was flattering to my eye shape, something I had always struggled with. For someone that really is royalty in the beauty world and has achieved so much (honestly read the link!) he was down to earth and not at all a ‘makeup snob’ he was honest about the freedom products and very quickly I felt I could trust his opinions and guidance.

  
As David demonstrated on his beautiful model Dan Fitzpatrick, who was a student at the school and is now being mentored by David to co host the freedom makeup courses (jealous much?) I was applying my own makeup step by step with lots of tips, tricks and advice on how best to apply the products as well as how to get the most out of them. There were lots of options to really personalise the look too, for example I chose half lashes instead of full (house of glam dolls own brand, they were beautiful and easy to apply!) , I also had white liner on the waterline instead of black and with David’s recommendation I didn’t use mascara on the lower lashes. It really opened my eyes up making me look bright and awake!   

  
I was impressed with the quality of the Freedom products I used and received. Some of which are already staples in my collection others I had been itching to try. One favourite  product from the day has to be the eyeshadow palette, the colours were pigmented, smooth and easily blended. The range of shades work so well together I will get a lot of use out of this bad boy. The eyeshadow primer was already a favourite of mine as well as the concealer palette. The only item I didn’t think much of was the foundation as I like a really matte finish whereas it was more dewy, so I ended up using a Mac foundation instead. I also loved the blush and lippie, which for the price you really can’t go wrong. Another exciting thing I learned was that glam dolls will be working with freedom makeup to help develop more products in the future. I will be purchasing these as soon as physically possible!!!!

Overal it was a fantastic experience I would recommend to everyone and anyone, you can never learn too much about makeup! As well as being wowed with the quality of the Freedom products I was 100% charmed by House of Glam Dolls and am seriously thinking about signing up to one of their MANY courses they have on offer. Here are my June monthly favourites, I love reading about other peoples so thought I’d share mine. Summer is here once again so my makeup has been rotated towards lighter comfy looks that work on those hot sweaty days. These are the products this month I could not have been without, here’s a little run down of what I love about them. 

  
Starting with my face, this is Loreal Skin Perfection BB blemish balm cream. I’ve been reaching for this more and more, it’s light coverage, blends in nice and quick, it’s my perfect colour and lasts most of the day. It’s moisturising and most importantly has an SPF of 25. I notice my skin texture really improves the more I use this product and it really helps with break outs. 

 
Freedoms Makeup London Concealer palette. This is a new favourite I have reached for literally every day. I love that you can mix your own colours, it helps cancel out the blue under my eyes and hides spots like a dream. To apply this I have been using….


My Real Technieques Pointed Foundation Brush. As you can see it’s rather dirty!!!! This small brush is perfect for getting right up under my eyes and really blending the concealer in. It doesn’t hold much product so it’s great for fuller coverage as well as a lighter application. 

  

Freedom Makeup London Fixing Spray. This has been a life saver, I’ve tried a few affordable fixing sprays and so far nothing’s worked. Until now! If I have decided to go more ‘full faced’ with my makeup I have noticed a significant difference in how well it’s lasted as well as it feeling cooling and refreshing to use. 

  
Here’s how the 3 look all together! 

  
These 3 lip products have lived in my bag all month. The first on the left is Essence Lipstick in Natural Beauty, I’m also wearing it on the photo above. Perfect pinky nude easy to wear with nearly any look. The same goes for the next colour which is Freedom Makeup London lipstick in Whispers, a slightly darker pink but still in the same rosy family. Both last a good few hours, can be applied without a mirror and feel creamy and moisturising to wear. The last is Mua Cosmetics Sweet Sheen Lipbalm in French Violet. This is a really pigmented lipbalm, as well as feeling nourishing it delivers a lovely pop of colour. I like using this if I’m out and about without makeup wearing my sunnies just to bring some colour to my face. 

  
Last but not least, Rimmel Scandal Eyes in Nude. I use this a lot, and even more in the summer. It brightens the eyes and really opens them up helping them appear larger and more awake.

Mini Naked 3 Dupe! With Swatches!

Here is my side by side swatch review of Urban Decays Naked 3 and Freedom Makeup Londons Pro Shade & Brighten Stunning Rose Kit mini eyeshadow palette. My Naked 3 is one of my favourite palettes, I love rosy makeup and what ever combo I choose in this palette I’m always happy with the end result. I was hoping they would do a basics palette but so far it’s not been mentioned. Now I have found this Freedom palette I’m not even sure if I would buy it! As soon as I laid eyes on the Rose kit i recognised the first half of the naked 3 instantly, when I put them side by side I was wowed at how similar they were. Or should I say identical! I feel the only thing that’s missing from the Freedom palette is a darker shade like factory or darkside but for day time looks its perect. When I swatched them side by side I was even more impressed.

  
 As you can see this is a swatch of the first shades in both palettes, freedoms is slightly more yellow and although both are pigmented urban decays did apply slighter better. This is one of my favourite base colours from urban decay Iv nearly hit pan on it I use it that often. 
 Second shade in both palettes, urban decays really is more of a glitter dust whereas freedoms is more metallic and there’s more colour behind the glitter. You can’t really tell in the photo but in real life I think that’s the only slight difference, although once they are blended out on the eyes they do create the same effect.  Freedoms is more creamy but there is more fall out because of this. 

 Third shade in the palettes, these are the closest match in colour, freedoms is maybe a hair darker but it’s not noticeable at all. Fab dupe!! 

  

Forth shade in the palettes, there is quite a difference here. Freedoms is darker, more pigmented and leans more towards a brown. Whereas urban decays is more of a smoky purple and is defiantly lighter on the skin.

  
I love these shades! Fifth colour in the palette, both seriously pigmented although the freedoms is slightly darker. Once on the lids there is no difference. Both shades have fall out but it’s so worth it! 

 Here is the last dupe shades in the palettes, and it really is Freedoms triumph! Look at the pigmentation!!!!! It’s super metallic, there is quite a lot of movement fallout in the pan when I put my finger/brush in where it’s so soft but I really don’t care because that colour is perfection. I’ve always found this shade in the urban decay palette to be quite stiff to work with and freedoms really is the total opposite. 
 Here’s a close up so you can stare a bit longer!  

I would also like to touch on prices and packaging, the naked 3 is £38 and you get 12 shades. The packaging can’t be beat, a pretty sturdy pink tin that snaps shut really securely and a large mirror. There’s also a great selection of darks and lights, mattes and shimmers. It’s really well rounded there is so much you can do with it, the quality of the shadows are also beautiful. Pigmented and long lasting, there is slight fall out but that really doesn’t bother me I just do my eyes before my face, problem solved lol. 

The Rose Kit is £2.50 and you get 6 eyeshadows and a highlight shade. It’s a cute mini sized palette great for touch ups throught the day in you handbag, I like that the lid is clear so if you have a selection of them you can tell which is which. It’s a shame there’s not a small mirror as I would need to carry one separately, but for £2.50 I really can’t moan. The shadows are jammed with pigmentation and with a good primer last really well. As I said earlier it’s a shame there’s not a dark colour but as the fourth shade comes out darker than it looks in the pan it helps even out the final look. 

So overal both palettes are a win for me, I like that I can use my naked 3 at home in the morning and take the Rose kit on the go in my bag for touch ups. They work so well together!  I hope you enjoyed this comparison to see more like it please subscribe! xxx

Thought I’d share with you some of my favourite cheapy lip products! Firstly my favourite lipliners!

 
They’re by a company called Essence! Available in Wilko Stores or at http://www.wilko.com these babies are £1 each and come in a bunch of colours. Here are a couple I love! They are sooo creamy and smooth they feel lovely on the lips. They’re long lasting and fairly smudge proof. I tend to wear them all over the lips as the colours are so pretty and they last so well. Best lip liners ever.

  

I’ve mentioned this little lippie before, Makeup Gallery at Poundland.i have colour 06 natural pink. I can’t vouch for the whole range but this colour in particular is gorgeous, a real pretty nudie pink. Lasts a good couple of hours and leaves a light stain which I love in lipsticks. Feels similar to a tinted balm but a bit creamier.

  

A recent find, Freedom Makeup London http://www.freedommakeuplondon.com these are also only £1! Really nice formula glides on the lips, doesn’t stick to my dry bits so started carrying them in my bag as they’re just so convenient!  The top shade is pink lust the bottom is whispers. They last well and again leave a slight stain. A new summer fave for sure. They also come in tonnes of colours there’s one for everyone!

Freedom Makeup London-Pro Conceal & Correct Palette (£5!) Review

I bought this concealer palette with my only money as it looks just like the Mac palettes and the mixture of shades looked perfect for my fair pinky skin. First impressions, cute little compact with a clear lid so if you owned several shades it would be easy to find the one you needed. I bought mine in light but it’s available in 3 other shades as well as one corrector palette with green purple yellow etc. 

  
Here are the swatches! As you can see there’s a real selection, pinks peaches and yellows even if your colours not here the beauty of a palette like this is that you can create your perfect shade they mix very well together. They all seemed to have a super thin wax type later on the top, once I had wiped this away I was so happy with what was underneath. The formula is smooth and creamy, if your on the go warm some between your fingers and pat on. I found using a brush makes it easier to build up your desired effect for under the eyes, they can be worn sheer or more full coverage. Iv also been using a lighter colour to highlight which has been working lovely. I’m tempted to buy a darker palette to use as contour because they blend really well into the skin. I like the fact these have been coverage my blemishes which I do struggle with if I’m having a break out, they also work great under the eyes. I would recommend setting with a powder, as they are a cream. These concealers have lasted really well thought the day on my skin using my bb creams as well as thicker foundations. Overall a cracking little palette I highly recommend! 

Freedom Makeup London-Pro 32 Innocent Collection Eyeshadow Palette Review (only £8!!!)

Hello my little buttons!

First impression of this palette was wow, it’s the perfect neutral palette. There’s a selection of warm and cool tones, mattes and shimmers. I love that there’s lots of matte creams pinks and peaches, as well as endless crease colours. To me this covers the basics; browns, purples, silvers, bronzes and charcoal greys blacks.

  
The packing is sleek and sturdy with a nice big mirror. I was happy to seeing it’s not huge either, it’s roughly 4inches by 7inches so easy to store and perfect for travel. The powders themself are pigmented, even the light mattes are lovely ,which sometimes in large palettes can be a bit of a let down. They blend beautifully and you can really build the colour up for a really dark smokey eye. For a change I decided not to finger swatch these and jump straight in to using them with my brushes and create a few looks instead. There was very little fall out and they were a pleasure to use.                                          

I know the big question floating around is are they the same as Makeup Revolution palettes? Both brands are made by the same people and the packaging is identical. I love makeup revolution and have always raved about their eyeshadow palettes, but I have to say I do think this palette is of a better quality in comparison to the Makeup Revolution large palettes. They are easier to blend, creamier, less powdery and the pigmentation is spot on. 

Here are a few looks I created using nothing but this palette:

  
 

For this look I used the silvers and dark greys, it gave my eyes dimension and really brought out the blue in my eyes. 

   
 

Here I used the more bronzey shades which is one of my favourite go to looks, next time I think I’ll use the lighter bronze shade with a damp brush to really intensify the colour and make it pop. 

   
 

I noticed some of the pinky shades are very similar to my naked 3 urban decay palette so I decided to do a natural pinky look which is one I also wear often and the end result is incredibly similar. (Blog on naked 3 dupes coming soon)

  
And last but not least is a really simple eye using creams and Browns I normally pair this with red stained lips and flawless skin (well I try) for a 50s look. It’s quick and easy but so effective, here is the overall look and yes i used the chrome filter!!!

Freedom Makeup London ‘Far Away’ Lipstick Collection-not to be missed!

I was sent these amazing Star Wars themed lipsticks by Freedom Makeup London who launched on June 5th this year (2015) the colours are crazy! When I swatched them I was hypnotised by the uniqueness of the shades, the grey/silver both have different coloured shimmers which sadly my cameras not picking up that well! The purple almost glows and the gold was so opaque it blew my mind. I realise how dramatic I am being but they really were eye catching! Today I tested them all out on my lips:

  
The first white shade is called ‘storm trooper’ I used a white eyeliner to line my lips and fill them in before applying the lipstick. The formula is so smooth and creamy and applied beautifully. It looks loads better with the White liner underneath to smooth it all over. The gold shade is called ‘space luxe’ this was a joy to use feels like a lip balm rather than a lipstick yet it’s so opaque and metallic in the light it looks awesome! The next shade is ‘sky walker’ same formula as the gold easy and smooth to apply with a beautiful blue/purple tone to it. Next we have ‘the sith’ a dark metallic grey also with blue/purple undertones, I used a black eyeliner to line my lips before applying which really gave it some more dimension. Needed a few layers but built up beautifully. The last shade we have ‘far away’ a metallic purple which I feel speaks for it’s it’s just gorgeous! 

Over all I’m amazed these are only £1 each, as well as feeling comfy on the lips they apply beautiful and I’ve never seen colours like it. If this is your thing or you feel like experimenting, go check out http://www.freedommakeuplondon.com

Nothing is more exciting than new makeup being released, so when I heard a whole new BRAND was being released I couldn’t contain my joy! To add the that joy they are also the creators of the wonderful Makeup Revolution, including Adam Minto who presence on Instagram is refreshing, he comes across very down to earth and thankful to all users of his brand. Today http://www.freedommakeuplondon.com launched at 3pm, the launch had been kept very hush hush. I was aware of the launch date so It was a relief I could finally share the news on my Instagram page!!!! My wish list is gigantic, you really need to check out the website for yourselves. They boast over 200 new products, which is crazy! As well as individual items there are also ‘sets’ of every item you need to acheive certain looks, special priced whole collection deals, the list goes on! If I was to list everything I would be here all day. Something truly unique to this brand is they are offering makeup courses at House Of Glam Dolls in London. For a short time only as well as the 2 hour course for a reasonably priced £50 you receive £50 worth of makeup!!! Each course is teaching you the skills to achieve a certain look:

My most exciting news is I am being sent on one of these courses to review, as well as being sent some of the line to review! I’m honered to have even been considered and can’t wait to share my experiences with the products as well as what I learn at House Of Glam Dolls.

Overall this brand looks fonominal and I am bursting at the seams to get testing, playing and reviewing! The hashtag #macforthemasses has been thrown around which I just love! So many unique products at ridiculously affordable prices, I have a feeling this brand is going to be HUGE. Go check them out im sure you will be as excited as I am!
