Saturday colourful MOTD

Hello my little buttons!!

Hope your all having a lovely Saturday! Thought I’d share my makeup look for the day, I’ve got lots of new goodies I’m testing out and will be blogging about as soon as I have a firm opinion on them.

Here are the products I’m trying out today, from left to right:

1. Gosh Velvet Touch Eyeliner in the shade 020 fashionista (dark metallic blue)

2. Collection Define & Perfect eyebrow powder in the shade blonde 1

3. Maybelline Lash Sensational, lash multiplying Mascara.

4. Collection Prime & Ready mattifying pore minimising primer powered by witch hazel

5. MUA Luxe bronze & Sculpt Contour Kit

I felt like going bright and colourful to match my colourful summer dress. As the Eyeliner I’m testing out is a dark metallic blue I decided to pull out out my trusty Makeup Revolution mermaids vs Unicorns eyeshadow palette. The colours are so vibrant amd pigmented it never let’s me down!

As I’m using a mattifying pore minimising primer I wanted to use a matte foundation. One of my all time favourites is the L’oreal Infallible Matte, as I used it all the time I know how it wear s throughout the day so thought this would be the perfect way to test a new primer.

Here are all the products I used for my look today.

I’d love to hear in the comments below what products your really into right now!

Mirror nails application and first impression! (wildflowers)

Hello my little buttons!!

I’m sure you’ve all seen the mirror nail powder videos that have been going viral, I couldn’t resist investing. I know my customers pretty well by now and knew this would be a huge hit with my girlies!

It’s a really intetesting concept, the powder itself is a super fine silver micro glitter. Instructions to use are as follows:

1. Prep the nail as usual

2. Paint the nail black (gel Polish) then cure.

3. Top coat then cure.

4. Using a lint free wipe, wipe of the sticky layer not using any chemicals, just the wipe.

5. Rub the powder into the nail.

6. Repeat steps 3,4 & 5 then topcoat again

Voila your done!

The powder is so easy to use once you’ve removed the tacky layer, this photo was my first attempt. I will say though, as the powder is so fine it really does go everywhere so be prepared to be covered in micro glitter for a day or two! My powder was from wildflowers and including delivery it came to £30 for a 10g jar. Yes it is expensive (the current value of the pound doesn’t help) but now I have played around with it im confidant I’ll get a good amount of sets out of the little pot and have adjusted my prices accordingly. I’m hoping to buy some of the other chrome colours avaliable too but need to save my pennies lol.

I would also recommend to have a separate top coat for mirror nails as the glitter partials have now contaminated my top coat making it glittery, bit of a pain but wasnt a huge suprise.

I’d love to hear below if you like mirror nails or if you know any other brands that stock this powder?

Ladykin Mango Twinklight Soft Foaming Cleanser Review

Hello my little buttons!

I was perusing one of my favourite beauty sites beautybay and came across this face Cleanser. “with effective emollients mango extract and bambusa vulgaris leaf extract” it sounded fruity and gorgeous. Its priced at £5 and you get 100ml which I thought was a BARGIN. Once it arrived I had a look at the ingredients but sadly they are korean so I have no idea what is in the cleanser lol.

On first use, I was hoping for a big powerful mango smell (yes I know fragrance in skincare is a no-no lol) but instead was met by a super soft subtle mango smell. The cleanser it’s self was a really pale pearlescent yellow and felt rich and creamy with small exfolient beads. I didn’t find it foamed up overly well, it felt more like a cream cleanser which isn’t a problem for me.

Once I rinsed it off my face i was squeaky clean, litrally I could squeak across my cheeks with my fingers lol. But what was sooooo disappointing was the after smell. Soap. Soap. Soap. It spelt straight up like a bar of soap, it was so over powering and nasty. The smell clung to my skin for a good hour after washing it was really unpleasant.

I will say, although it smells revolting, my skin feels so lovely, soft and clean afterwards I’m still using it! I definitely won’t be buying it again but for now it does the job. I realise this is an odd little review but thought I would share my thoughts!

I’d love to hear in the comments below what your favourite cleanser is?

New makeup trend alert!!! Draping?!

Hello my little buttons!!
Well here we are again, already, to talk about yet another new makeup trend. Let’s quickly recap, we’ve has contouring, strobing, non-touring and now we’re onto draping. Draping is a huge throw back to a technique makeup artists used in the 60’s/70’s/80’s it’s basically contouring but with blush. Using several shades to achieve a more rosy natural contour, a darker shade on the lower cheek with a lighter, brighter shade blended above.

As I’m pretty red naturally I can’t see this being a look I’ll be jumping at!! What do you think about this new trend? Cool or Crazy? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Glossy Box July 2016 First Impressions!

Hello my little buttons!

Yay another Glossy Box, I’m so happy with this one as I’m pretty sure I will use every product. So let’s jump right in.

1. Hawaiian Tropic island berry lipgloss £6.99 hawaiiantropicshop.co.uk

Lovely little lipgloss, spf 25 which is fantastic for a gloss. It claims to be a non sticky formula that provides 12 hours hydration. It’s smells great I hope it lives up to my expectations.

2. Icona Milano Emotion Allowed Mascara £13.04 iconamilano.com

Love the name of this Mascara, it’s a really clever take on waterproof Mascara. The brush looks pretty good too so hoping it adds length, volume and is buildable. Its also from a brand I’ve never heard of before which is exciting.

3. Hairon De-tangle Brush £6.99 hairon.co.uk

I was more pleased for my daughter than myself on this one! Her hair is down to her bum so this will definitely get used lol. My hair is shorter and curly but when it’s hot the curls get so tight it’s really hard to brush though so hopefully this brush will live up to the challenge.

4. Blank Canvas f20 Flat Brush £11.95 blankcanvascosmetics.com

One of my favourite things to get in my Glossy Box is a makeup brush! This is another brand I haven’t heard of, but from the looks of the brush I think I’ll be investigating further as it feels super soft and is rather pretty to look at!

5. Utan and Tone Nourishing Night Creme £12.50 utanandtone.com

Hmmmm debating whether to try this or not lol. It’s a combo of night cream and gradual fake tan, it could go fantastically well or I could be stained orange for days lol. Might read some reviews on this before having a play!
Overall a fantastic box this month really happy with all the items! We’re you happy with your box? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Beauty Bay makeup haul!

Hello my little buttons!!

I’m so sorry, I’ve not posted in about two weeks, it feels like forever!! I’m still alive, I have been crazy busy with work and other commitments which has had to take priority over my blog. I’m hoping to get back in the swing of things asap, so to kick it off I thought I’d share with you my recent beauty bay haul! I only bought a couple of bits but thought I’d share them with you. I will be reviewing all these items so if you’d like to read more please subscribe to my blog for email updates when I post something new!

1 Mango Face Wash

I’ve been in the market for a new face wash for a while, the last product I tried broke my skin out so I’ve been pretty choosy about what to try next. I saw this and thought what the heck, I love eating mangos so why not put them on my face!

2. La girl eyeshadow palettes

As a palette junkie i’ve been eyeing these up for while. Apart from them being a metallic master piece they were only £3 each. Here in the UK we don’t have la girl cosmetics so when I saw that beauty bay were stocking some of their products I had to give them a go.

3. La girl Pro Conceal

Last but not least is this little beauty. This is for sure a ‘youtube made me buy it’ product as I’ve seen it everywhere. For £5 it’s worth a go! I’m just hoping the colours right for my skin as although it’s the shade light ivory it still looks pretty orange to me.

So that’s everything! I have another haul blog post coming up from superdrug, damn their 3 for 2 lol. Hope you all have a fantastic day!

The Body Shop BB Cream Review!

image

Hello my little buttons!

I love a good bbcream and have been on the lookout for a new one, in comes The Body Shop BBcream in the shade light. It cost £12, is avaliable in 6 shades and claims to be light to medium coverage. The cream itself is white and adjusts to your skin tone. The packaging is cute, it reminds me of a tube of paint!

image

As you all know I’m brutally honest in my reviews, and this will be no exception.. I hate this product. It’s rare I hate anything as what doesn’t work for some works for others but I honestly don’t see how this could work for anyone. It had zero coverage, I literally mean zero coverage. Here is me with just the bbcream on. (I am slightly sunburnt lol)

image

There wasn’t even a hint of colour, I looked like I’d applied a really rich greasy moisturiser with mini telescopes attached to my pores. My first reaction was hell no its coming off!! But for the benefit of you lovelies I tried to make it work to really test it out. I left it to set thinking it might oxidise and mattify.

When I looked back in the mirror 10 mins later it looked the same!!! Greasy but this time with a tinge of orange. Never a good look. I applied the rest of my makeup as normal but it applied patchy and I look ridiculous. I then applied a powder foundation over the top as there was no way I was leaving the house looking like that.

image

Even with the powder foundation throughout the day it’s has separated and sunk into every pore line and wrinkle. And after 4 hours of wear I look like I’ve rubbed butter over my face, it looks terrible.

The Body Shop actually add oil to all of their foundations, which for most skin types is going to be way too heavy. The bbcream contained marula oil which I think might be the culprate here.

Do you like this BB Cream? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

New Moyou London Stamping Plates!!

image

Hello my little buttons!!

Just a quick blog post on my new stamping plates from Moyou London. Moyou is my all time favourite place to buy plates, they’re £5 each and have every design imaginable. They also have weekly new releases so there is never a shortage of new products. I noticed they had released some new nautical themed plates!!!! Although I already have a pretty good collection of plates, I love anything nautical so couldn’t resist. I always buy new products with my customers in mind but from time to time I do splurge on some thing for myself. I’m pretty sure they will be popular with my customers too but not gonna lie, they’re for me!!!!

image

Tried them out this weekend and as predicted they were spectacular, each designed stamped easily and looked gorgeous on the nail. I love the detail on some of these designs and find it amazing that with the right stamper you can capture that on a nail.

Please excuse my dry skin I’ve done a lot of cleaning this weekend! What are your favourite stamping plates? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Tony Moly Pandas Dream Brightening Eyebase Review!

image

Hello my little buttons!

Today I’ll be reviewing one of my Korean purchases I made recently, this is the Tony Moly Pandas Dream under eye brightener. Let’s be honest here, the packaging is freaking adorable, it could of contained bum cream and I probably still would of bought it!!! I had high hopes for this product due to the fact it was so cute and that I love a bit of brightness under the eyes to reflect my tired old lady bags.

image

The product itself is a stark white cream stick, it did require some blending as although it was creamy it just didn’t want to blend into my skin. Once it was blended it settled into every pore, wrinkle and line on my face. It reminded me of a glue stick lol. It obviously did lighten under my eyes while I just had the brightener on but even on my pale skin it was very white. This product definatly wouldn’t work for medium or deeper skintones.

image

I have tried this product out with 4 different foundations and I’m pretty devastated to say… I don’t think it does anything!!! I’ve tried it on both eyes and couldnt see much of a difference. I then tried wearing the product on one eye and not the other to see a side by side comparison. Again, nothing!!! I’ll insert a photo here, can you tell which one has the product on?! (not the most flattering photo but you can see what you need to see.)

image

I also took another photo in more natural light too see if that helped, as you can tell, it didn’t! I’m wearing it on my left side btw!

image

I have seen zero difference, I’ve been asking people and they are seeing zero difference too. I keep wanting to try the panda as I love the idea of this product, I really want it to work. I’ve also got a sneeking suspician my determination has got something to do with the cute packaging, which I know is ridiculous but look at it!

I tried layering it up more, thinking maybe I didn’t use enough product. This caused serious concealer bunching through the day, it look awful, separating all the product under my eyes. Here is another unflattering photo taken only 1 HOUR after applying my makeup.

image

So with great sadness I have to say this product is a total fail, I’d love to hear in the comments if this product works for you?!

Avon Glimmerstick Flick Eyeliner Review

image

Hello my little buttons!

I bought the new Avon glimmerstick flick eyeliner pencils in the shades Mulberry and Sky, the stick of eyeliner comes out of the packaging in a rectangular shape to help create the perfect flick. As they’re a new product, Avon had an offer of 2 for £6 which I thought was a pretty good deal. I was quite intrigued by the packaging, in the photo in the catalogue the liner tip looked really small so I thought this might be a nice quick and easy solution to eyeliner.

When I saw them in person I was quite disappointed, the rectangle was rather big considering your going to put them on your eyes to create a smooth sharp flick. I didn’t see how this would be achievable with these eyeliners as to be really honest they looked chunky and blocky, which are not words I would ideally like to use to describe an eyeliner.

This review is going to be quite interesting as I have different opinions on both colours. I would assume the formula would be the same for both liners, however this wasn’t the case.  The purple formula wasn’t as pigmented as I would have liked but after using it I actually like the soft smokey affect it made. It blended nicely into my eyeshadow and lasted fairly well throughout the day for a £3 eyeliner. By the end of the day there was noticable fading but as my shadow had started fading too so it was no biggie. It was also not as hard to create a wing as I thought but I think by blending the edges this made it easier.

image

The blue on the other hand was far more pigmented, which I was not expecting as when swatched on my hand it wasn’t all that. I didn’t think the colour would look as good smoked up like the purple so I tried creating a small flick and the line my upper lash line as well as my waterline. It was a lot harder to get a neat line, I think it is because of the pigmentation and the fact that the tip wasn’t fine enough it wasn’t very forgiving. The purple was a lot easier to use and felt softer on the lids. There was also something in the blue liner that irritated the crap out of my eyes, not just on first application, but all day. They were watery and itchy and I just didn’t feel comfortable, I was also rather self contious that my wing wasn’t how I wanted it to look. I did get a lot of compliments on my eyemakeup that day but I really didn’t want people looking too closely! On a positive note the blue did last better through the day than the purple.

image

I found with both of the liners that the packaging really let them down, after you turn the barrel to push up the product out of the top, it slips back down. Every time I tried to reposition my hand to steady myself to draw my eyeliner on it kept retracting at the lightest touch. It was incredibly frustrating!

I will say if you’re into a really sharp wing this probably isn’t for you. As I said a soft wing was achievable with both products but I don’t think it took me less time using my normal eyeliner to be fully honest. I will be using the mulberry liner again as it was very pretty amd shimmery and overall easier to use. Sadly I won’t be using the blue for the reasons stated above.

I’d love to hear in the comments below what you think of these liners!
