Burtsbees Tinted Lip Balm Review

image

Hello my little buttons!

As summer is approaching I’m all about tinted lip balms and lipstains. I found this little beauty at my mums house, she a wonderful, yet fussy lady and if she likes something it tends to be good. So of course I ‘borrowed’ it. Here’s my quick little review of what I thought!

image

This tinted lip balm contains shea butter and botanical waxes making it super hydrating for the lips. It is priced at £5.99 and is avalible in 6 shades promising 8 hour moisturisation. The sheer wash of colour is beautiful, you can see it’s there but it’s not so over powering that you worry it’s slipping about your face. I have the shade Red Delilah which is a browny red toned colour.

image

It feels lovely on the lips and lasts longer than many other balms I’ve tried. Although it looks like a chap stick you can tell straight away it is far more nourishing and my lips feel softer after it has soaked in and faded away. I would definitely recommend this product and think I might have to buy some more shades!!! I have to say I becoming more and more impressed with Burts Bees every product I have tried so far I have loved, they never disappoint.

I’d love to hear in the comments below whats your favourite Burts Bees product?

The BEST affordable eyeshadow palette brands!

image

Hello my little buttons!

I’m always saying you don’t need to spend a fortune for good quality eyeshadow palettes, so I thought I’d write a quick post about a few brands I would recommend that are highly affordable and that I reach for over some of my highend palettes.

1. MUA Cosmetics

image

These eyeshadows are the bomb, in moat palettes you get 12 colours and they only cost £4. They have some fall out but they are highly pigmented and easy to blend. I actually depotted all of mine and put them in a z palette! I love it as I can create hundreds of of looks and in the z palette they look gorgeous. The pans are fairly small but for the price I’m not moaning. There are loads of other eyeshadow palettes in the line still only costing between £5 and £8 and with new releases happening all the time there’s always something new. Here are some swatches from the Luxe metalic cream palette in Elemental.

image

2. Makeup Revolution .

image

This is no suprise as makeup revolution are ruling the affordable eyeshadow palette market. The really do have every shade imaginable from neutrals to shimmers to neons they have covered all bases. The prices range from £4 for 12 shades and  £8 for 32 shades, with a few £10 palettes. They are highly addictive and collectible! Most of the colours are fantastic, creamy and pigmented,  you do get the odd ‘dud’ colour but this is to be expected as again the price is so affordable. They have tons of dupes for higher end palettes so of you can’t afford that urban decay palette at least you can create a similar look!

image

3. Freedom Makeup London

image

I have singles from this brand as well as palettes and they are always a win. They have mini palettes at £2.50 which you can create a full look with as well as pop in your handbag. They have 12 shades for £4 but my favourites are the Decadence range, 20 shades for £6 the quality is unbeatable. I can also recommend their pro 32 shades for £8, the pans are small but as there are so many in each palette it would still be hard to get through them all. Here’s some random swatches, so soft and buttery really easy to use.

image

4. Sleek

image

Sleek are know for their crazy pigmented blushes, the eyeshadow palettes have followed in suit!! Priced between £7.99 and £9.99 they look similar to the MUA Cosmetics palettes. I would say the quality is a tad higher in these shadows as they’re less powdery. Even the matte neon shades are pigmented amd very blendable which is incredibly rare in more affordable palettes. Same as the MUA palettes i depotted the eyeshadows to put in a z palette so I could access all the colours at the same time. Huge choice on shades there is something for everyone. As I know your eyeing those brights up here’s some swatches!

image

I hope this was an interesting read and has given you a few ideas on where to buy some bargin eyeshadow palettes! Have I missed any brands out? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Korean Peel off Liptint “My Liptint Pack” Review! !

image

Hello my little buttons!

This is the second time I am writing this review, for those of you that are signed up to my blog you might of seen a notification about this post that actually had no content, sorry about that there was a technical error and it got deleted. I could of cried. But here we go for round two!

Here is the long awaited review on the Berrisom ‘My Liptint Pack’ peel off lipstains. I have had so many questions about these lipstain in real life as well as online and after a week of trial and error I have come to a conclusion as well as some tips and tricks on application. I bought the pack of 6 colours from yesstyle and it cost around £25. Delivery took an age but was well worth the wait. For those of you that don’t know and bout the new peel of lipstain phemoninom I’ll break it down for you. The product comes in a tube, it has a thick gel like consistency, you apply it directly to the lips, let it dry, once dry peel the gel off and it will leave a stain. Here are some arm swatches of the colours before peeling the gel off.
image

At first I thought omg they’re so bright but I shouldn’t of worried, as you can see in the picture below once the gel was peeled off i was so pleased to see lovely coloured wearable stains. (it’s been 30 hours and they’re still on my arm!)

image

I had heard online to be careful on application as the product will try to seep into your mouth so you should try not to talk while the gel is drying. The first colour I tried was Virgin Red. I got a bit carried away and applied it with my mouth open, big mistake, I was left with bright red teeth and the worst taste in my mouth. So tip number one is definatly apply with you mouth shut!! And keep it shut!! I also noticed the due to the consistency of the gel and the plastic applicator its impossible to get a perfectly neat line around the edges of my lips, thankfully you really cant tell once the gel is off.
image

Throughout the course of the week I learnt to take my time with application and to not over load my lips with too much product. That’s tip number two. The shade Virgin Red did really tingle my lips but this was the only shade that did this so if your lips are sensitive do be carefull.
image

Once I peeled the gel off I was blow away, it had left a hearty stain that truelly lasted all day! The colour was beautiful and I’ve honestly never seen such a pigmented tint, and trust me I have tried many.
image

After 5/6 hours of wear I noticed it had started to fade towards the inside of lips after eating and drinking but from a distance it still looked great. What is also handy about these tints is you can pop some on where it has faded to touch it up easily thought the day. Here is the colour Bubblegum Pink, the bottom photo is after 5 hours.
image

image

image

The only colour that fell short was Lovely Peach, I was hoping it would be a pretty peachy stain that would be great to use day to day for a more natural look. Sadly it didn’t really do much, as youll see in the photos below the gel was bright orange so I really thought it was going to be a goodun but I don’t really think you can tell in the photo below that, that I even had anything on.
image

image

The rest of the colours were awesome, these are by far the best stains ive ever used. The pigment is crazy and the longevity was impressive. It’s also pretty fun peeling the gel off! Heres some photos down below of the other colours on myself as well as my lovely friend Carla who was a less than willing volentire, but even she loved the stain!

I’d love to hear in the comments what you think of these stains!

Glossy box June 2016 first impressions!

image

Hello my little buttons!

It’s that time of the month again, here’s my first impressions on what I received in my glossy box. This month’s box is highly practical for the summer months which is great, but to be honest not the most exciting.

image

Ladival sun protection spray Spf 15 £19.99 from boots

This sun screen spray protects against four types of UV rays as well as being non-greasy, water resistant and free from perfume it’s suitable for sensitive and eczema prone skin. I always need spf for my children as well as myself but it’s a shame it’s factor 15 and not a 30 as I always use high protection. Practical product that will be used but not the most thrilling.

image

Dr Bruyere after sun lotion monoi  £9.48 from derriere.fr

On the skin theme after sun is nice touch, the tube is rather small but is beautifully presented and again will come in handy. The cream is enriched with vitamin E as well as Monoi (gardenia petals soaked in coconut oil) which sounds incredibly fancy so I think I’ll enjoy using this.

image

Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff  from origins.co.uk

Super small tube of eyecream, which I can’t see being the full size as its priced at £20. This little cream contains coffee beans, panax ginseng and optical brighteners. To be applied around the eye area every morning to reduce dark circles and help reduce the appearance of bags and puffiness. Even though it’s small as you only need a tiny amount I imagine you’d still get a good few uses to decided if this product is worth the investment of the full sized.

image

Spa To You Konjac Sponge £6.99 from spatoyou.com

This is by far the most unique random item in the glossy box, it’s made from the natural fibres of the Konjac which is a porous root vegetable from Asia! I have to admit I opened the packet straight away to have a feel, the sponge comes dampened and feels really different from your average sponge, soft and squishy are the words jumping to mind. I’m looking forward to playing with this as apparently it’ll leave your skin clean and unbelievably soft.

image

Emite Makeup Lip & Cheek Tint £12.50 from emitemakeup.com

I adore lip and cheek tints, especially in the summer but I do have a huge supply and don’t really need any more. The packaging is mammoth it’s like a big chunky mascara rather than a slimline liptint. I like the ombre fade on the packaging as you can see the colour within the tube. Still looking forward to playing with this because products such as these are handy for my handbag on the go.

image

Aussie Hair Care 3 minute miracle reconstruction deep conditioner £1.09 from aussiehair.com/uk

Last but not least is the bonus product, happy with this one as I LOVE Aussie products and so does my bleached curly hair! Hair treatments are always welcome in my house so this will be used pretty quickly, shame it’s not bigger but not the end of the world.

As you can see, practice but nothing massively exciting. The sponge is cool but not something I would of bought for myself. I’d love to hear what you thought of this month’s glossy box, did you feel the same as me? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Makeup trends – Non-touring?!

image

Hello my little buttons!

Recently one of my favourite YouTubers Wayne Goss posted a video about “Non-touring” in short, it was hilarious. The past year has all been about contouring, this year it’s strobing, now apparently the new “hot” thing is Non-touring. Which is….drum roll please…. basically doing nothing!!!! I couldn’t tell if this was a joke or not so I got Googleing.

image

After some research I was astounded to find out that non-touring is a REAL THING. There were an abundance of makeup tutorials on YouTube, articles in magazines and even models raving about this ‘new look.’

image

Non touring is apparently about summery light ‘no makeup’ makeup, using a light coverage dewy foundation or bb cream with a dust of bronzer, blush and a touch of highlight.

(So basically go back two years before you felt the social pressure to Sculpt out those cheek bones and highlight like a blind woman possessed, you now have permission to use your old simple makeup routine.)

In theory yes I love this look as for years it was my makeup routine as well as everyone else I knew growing up lol. It just really tickled me that someone out there decided this look needed a name, a strong name, something bold that would be the next trend..and that name is “Non-touring”?!!!

It sounds like people have had enough of the many extra steps to a routine that contouring and strobing are weighed down with and are going back to basics. Which is great! It’s such a quick and easy look and as summer is round the corner you don’t wanted to be caked with layer and layers of product melting all over the place in the heat.

image

Celeb makeup artist Renee Sanagoo spoke Marie Claire describing the look as “spanx for your face” “you know your wearing it, but no-one’s suppost to see it.” Interesting simile, took me a while to get it but I see where she was going with that. Celebrities such as Gigi Hadid and Kendal Jenner seem to agree. Here’s my version of the ‘no makeup’ makeup Non-touring!

image

I hope this blog made you smile and you can see the humour in Non-touring! I’d love to hear in the comments below what you think of this ‘new’ trend, does it need a name? Do you like the name? What else would you call it?

JEFFREE STARS A HYPOCRITE?!?!

image

Hello my little buttons!

Here on online beauty community there’s nothing better than a little bit of YouTube gossip, and have I got something juicy for u.

If you haven’t been living in a cave for the past few weeks I’m sure you’ll have heard about Jeffree stars recent Snapchat about Kylie Jenner and her lip glosses. In the Snapchat Jeffree Star was demonstrating how the Lipgloss wands almost fan out even though they’re brand new, he then went on to describe the product is “janky” and said Kylie Jenner “half-assed” it. He also said “no offence to her but these a f*cking garbage” before dramatically throwing them in the bin. This created huge drama with many others agreeing about the poor quality of the Lipgloss wand, bearing in mind they cost £18 it’s really not exceptible. At the same time wow that’s throwing huge shade Kylies way and I’m sure the snap chat effected the sales of the Lipgloss as Jeffree star is huge in the online beauty community and people really value his opinion.

Recently a relatively small YouTuber called rockyroadkill made a video called “Jeffree star cosmetic skinfrost DISASTER” in the video he explained how on the day of the skin frost highlighter pre-release at dragcon he drove for 3 hours then waited in line for the highlighter in the shade King Tut. He then goes on to say how he opened the highlight to look at himself in the mirror when the pan of product “fell out and f*cking broke” he’s “not mad at the company” and tried patching it up himself then attempted to review the highlighter but you could really tell the excitement had gone for him. He still said “these highlights are everything” and went on to talk about how Jeffree is “a thousand times prettier in real life” and how he was going to email the company as he was not mad at Jeffree or Jeffree Star cosmetics he simply wanted a new one. I think his video was fully justified, you could you tell how much he adored Jeffree and his products but was just disappointed in what has transpiered after purchasing the highlight.

This is where it gets good, Jeffree leaves a comment on rockyroadkills video which he deleted swiftly after.

image

*shocked face* I then re read it…*shocked face* again! I was pretty much speechless to be honest which is a rarity for me. Rockyroadkill was being honest about the product, he was actually really nice about the whole thing, he could of easily made a video ranting and raving but he didn’t.

Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Jeffree star, I watch his channel and have heard many good things about his cosmetics…. But in this sinario I thinks he’s wrong. Sorry Jeffree don’t hate me! You can’t give out huge criticisms of other people’s products and not take critism back, nothing is ever perfect amd things do go wrong, it’s life. Maybe he lashed out in anger and once calmed down deleted the comment? Although it’s been deleted it seems many people screen shotted the pic and it was easy for me to find after a quick Google search.

What do you think? Was Jeffree being a hypocrite or do you agree with his comment? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Why is honey good for your skin?

image

Hello my little buttons!

Honey is everywhere right now in skincare, little indie homemade brands are popping up left right and centre. These companies are so important right now to “support the bees” but what is so great about honey and why is it so good for your skin?

Honey is actually antibacterial! It’s great for helping spots disappear as well as keeping them away. I personally noticed this myself after a recent break out, my skin recoverd a lot faster than normal and my spots looked less angry.

Honey is clarify for the skin, by opening up and unclogging pores, which in turn helps keeps spots away leaving your face clean and fresh.

Honey is also highly moisturising, it sooths irritated skin and give your skin a glowy look to it. Since using a honey based serum and moisturiser I’ve not had any dry patches and my skin is looking healthy and bright.

The last main property in honey is it’s packed full of antioxidants which makes honey a natural wrinkle cream!! Antioxidants are great to prevent wrinkles as they promote cellular repair and healing.

image

Thankfully if you don’t like the idea of rubbing pure honey all over your face there are many creams and concoctions on the market right now to boost your skins honey intake without the sticky mess. Two companies I can highly recommend are hey honey and bee good I’ve been using several of their products and they’re wonderful.

If you did like the idea of using pure honey there are hundreds of home made facemasks you can make to keep your skin looking beautiful!

Korean makeup haul!

image

Hello my little buttons!

I’m very excited to share with you my recent Korean makeup haul from yesstyle. I bought these products with my own money and have been waiting, for what feels like an eternity, for them to arrive! I will be reviewing each product individually so this is just a quick blog on what exactually I have ordered.

image

This item was the only item I actually intended to buy lol. I have watched and read so many people try out the new “peel off lipstain” i couldnt help but jump on board to lol. This pack is the “my lip tint pack” and comes with 6 shades.

image

I love a good eyeliner so was drawn to these super waterproof liners in black and bronze. I swatched them on my arm and within seconds they set, I have a video up on my Instagram showing me rubbing over them with zero smudging. Think these will be fantastic hoping to test them out at the weekend. The packaging is also adorable, there’s a really cute snow white with attitude on the lids!

image

Simple liquid liner, the formula looks super black and the brush is perfect  for winging out.

image

Black head nose strips are sooo much fun, I love seeing all the gunk come out! I know it’s discusting but you have to admit it’s really rewarding and anyone who says it isn’t is lying.

image

This adorable little panda is an under eye brighter. I’ll be honest with you, it could of been any product and I think I would of still bought it!!! This packaging is just too cute. The product itself looks pretty white so am curious to see how it looks under makeup.

Tomorrow morning I’ll be testing lots of these little monsters out amd will be posting pics on instagram! I already started testing the lipstains, I’m planning on using one each day and reviewing them next weekend. It’s going to be an interesting read, if you are curious do subscribe to my blog and you’ll receive an email notification when it’s up!

TESS HOLLIDAY WAS FAT SHAMED BY FACEBOOK

image

Hello my little buttons!

Tess Holiday is one of the most famous plus size models right now, she was recently signed by  Milk Model Management making her the first plus model of her size to be signed by a main stream model agency. Its amazing! I think she is absolutely stunning and her confidence is something to be admired. She also started the #effyourbeautystandards movement on instagram

Recently Tess modeled for Cherchez la femme to promote a feminist body positivity event called ‘feminism amd fat’. She really is the perfect face for this kind of event as Tess herself is a body positive activist. Said company applied to have an advert which included this photo (shown above) on Facebook ads. There response was awful, in fact I’ll add the whole Facebook reply down below.

image

Wow I really could go on about this all-day long! Firstly, health and fitness policy?! The ad is to promote a body positivity event!!!!!! Big, small, short or tall everyone has a body and this event is to promote self positivity and loving yourself regardless of your “so called” flaws. Showing an image of someone who hasen’t got the “perfect” body but is still beautiful and happy within herself is inspirational, not something that could make someone “feel bad about them selves” as quoted from the letter.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and to refere to ANYONE as “extremely undesirable” is nothing more than nasty and narrow minded. Sorry, Jenny from Facebook but it’s true. The fact Facebook won’t run ads with “close up of muffin tops, where the over hanging fat is visible” is also mind boggling and hugely implies that there is something wrong with muffin tops. I know many women who are a healthy weight, even under a healthy weight and they have muffin tops, from child birth or weight changes muffin tops are pretty common to women over 21!

I think the reply from Facebook is so sad, it really is a disgrace. No one is saying “go put loads of weight on its super healthy” but everyone has the right to feel comfy in their own skin and this photo screams that right and who are Facebook to decided whether people should see this or not? She’s not naked, she’s not having Sex with an animal, she’s not molesting children so really how could this photo possible offend?

Facebook later did apologise, after the reply went public might I add, that this was an error and that the photo could be publishes as an ad. Too little too late Facebook.

It’s no secret that I am a bigger girl and have had my struggles. There is no point in hating yourself until your “perfect” as that day will never come. Life is about excepting who you are inside and out and these sorts of events are so important in the world right now. There is pressure everywhere to be a certain weight, do your make up a certain way, dress a certain way, the falsness of a virtual reality has taken over real life and showing photos of real people, no matter what their size, is cruital. I’m going to stop here as honestly I could go on and on. I’d love to hear your comments down below on what you think of this whole issue.
